Merry Late Freakin' Christmas

So, I had a pretty good Christmas. I got almost everything I asked for.

Let's see. I got some money and gift cards. I also got a wireless router and USB adapter, so now I can surf the web from my own room. I also got a nasal irrigator that pulses. It's supposed to stop this constant post-nasal drip I have... or at least lessen it a good bit. It's supposed to take about a couple of weeks until you see results, so we'll see.

The only thing I asked for and didn't get was a job. Dad says that a couple of the people I interviewed with may be ready to make an offer, but they're doing the whole Christmas vacation deal. We'll see.

Tomorrow, I'm gonna go spend some of my Christmas cash. I need to go to the bank first, and they're not open today. I'm thinking of getting a messenger bag from Old Navy (when I do get a job, I need something to take to work!) as well as an IPod at Circuit City.

OK, not an IPod, because you pay too much for the name. There are MP3 players that are just as good, and you don't pay a premium for the name and the DRM.

Now, since Christmas is over, we can focus on two things. First is the college bowl season. I hope Texas beats USC in the Rose. Second is Mardi Gras. Remember folks, New Orleans will be open for the greatest free tit show on Earth!

So, have a (belated) Merry Christmas!

New Orleans: Nothing But "Wham-Bam Traffic Jams"!

If you read the Times-Picayune last Saturday, you read that Bob Walker and Sgt. T-Ben Boudreaux were returning to the airwaves in New Orleans. You probably remember these two from afternoons on the old Oldies 106.7 (this was before it was the End). Now, they're on from 3-7 PM on 94.3 'TIX-FM (holy crap, that rhymes!). Bob Walker plays dem oldies, and Sgt. T-Ben Boudreaux gives you the traffic news you can use. And no, I'm not being paid for this shilling, OK? I just like hearing what's playing at the (hurricane-ravaged) Adult Video sign on Chef Menteur.

I had a chance to listen, and it was just like 1991 all over again. However, unlike 1991, I can actually use the traffic news, since I'm old enough to drive this time. Unfortunately, unlike 1991, there are now "wham-bam traffic jams" everywhere. You can't avoid them, no matter where you go. Thanks to Katrina, the traffic is worse with much less people. Let me explain.

For example, if you want to cross the I-10 Twin Single Span to Slidell, prepare to crawl starting at Michoud. Even if you want to get off at the Irish Bayou exit and take Highway 11, it's slow across that bridge, all the way through Eden Isles/Oak Harbor.

At a recent job interview, I got another tip, which I put to use after another job interview yesterday. I was told it'd be faster to get off I-10 at Chef Menteur, and take it all the way through Irish Bayou and across the lake to Slidell. I guess a lot of other people figured it out as well.

I can't wait until they open the other span of I-10 across the lake.

I also still need a job. However, this time, I really do feel that good news is on the way.

And now, the freakiest thing I've ever seen. I moderate a radio message board, and I recently received a PM from a guy. He wanted to find out more about a guy who used to work in Baton Rouge, but now works where he lives. He gave me a Yahoo e-mail to respond to.

Maybe he shoulda realized that would be a bad idea. You see, anyone who LIKES having another guy sit on (and fart in) their face while wearing 501's DESERVES to be made fun of. Everyone has a fetish, but that goes too far.

At least he's not into golden showers.

Anyway, I'm going to sit by the phone. I really do feel that good news is on the way.
