What Do I Want For Christmas?
The first thing I want for Christmas is a job. Watch... the phone will now ring tomorrow with good news! At least, I hope so.
DirectNIC/Intercosmos wanted to know my salary requirements, and I put out a fair number. Hopefully they think it's fair as well. And I'm still in consideration for the Auburn job.
Other than that, my Christmas list is full of gift cards and cash. I don't know if you've seen this particular commercial for Prestone antifreeze, where the guy just cannot decide what he wants. That's me... well, it wasn't me in the commercial, but I'm just like that guy. I never seem to know what I want.
Speaking of which, American Express has this little promotion going on where they sell very limited quantities of expensive shit at rock-bottom prices. It's like Black Friday at Wal-Mart without getting your ass kicked while trying to get a cheap laptop.
For example, they'll soon be selling Land Rovers for $5,000 each. The catch is that there's only 3 of them. Today, they had 50 37" Panasonic plasma HDTV's for $750 each. Of course, I was not lucky enough to get one of them. If I did, I was gonna sell it on EBay and make a profit, which I'd put towards a good laptop.
So, for Christmas, I'd like a job, gift cards, and cash. The first one was pretty obvious, huh? Maybe tomorrow.
Oh yeah, I'd also like restaurants and stores around here to stay open longer. If the interviewers at these places would stop saying I'm too overqualified to work for them, I'd be happy to take a job at one of those places. We got back from Atlanta late on Friday night, and I don't even think Waffle House was open. That's pretty sad.
Speaking of Atlanta, I had the chance to try Dr. Wham again while on the trip. If you read my BiTchin'! article, you know I wasn't too pleased with the aftertaste the first time I tried it. I guess it was a bad batch or something, because it tasted great this time! I wish I had bought a 12-pack or two.
Oh well, maybe I can get some for Christmas or something.

Happy Freakin' Thanksgiving!
Again, I'm slow to update my blog. Well, I had good reason.
After the last time I posted, I got a second interview with Host Communications. That means I got to go up to Lexington, Kentucky and interview with them. It was a good interview, and they seemed to like my personality. Well, I just got an e-mail saying they decided to go with someone with madder skillz. However, they liked my personality, and they're holding on to my resume in case anything comes up.
Lexington was a fun trip. I hadn't been there in five years. For the first time in a long time, I got to eat fresh White Castles at a restaurant. It's much better than eating the frozen ones, that's for sure. My only regret was not purchasing a Crave Case or two.
However, all is not lost. Last Friday, I had an interview with Intercosmos Media Group in New Orleans. You probably know them from this Hurricane Katrina blog. That was a very laid back interview. I hope I can land a job there. But... they seem to have a lot of Segways there. I've never seen so many Segways at once!
I'm also still waiting to hear from Auburn about that job. While I was out of town, they still hadn't made a decision. I wonder if they made one yet.
Well, it's Thanksgiving week, and that means the usual trip. I leave later today, and I come back Saturday.
Even better news: after that job interview last Friday, I got my braces off. Looks like all the work on my mouth was a success.
Well, it's time to leave for my trip, but I'll be back at the end of the week. At least I figured out how to get the answering machine messages without being at home, so I'll know if something good comes up.

My Trip -- And My New Marketing Idea
Well, I made it back from my trip on Friday night. Let's go over the highlights:
I left on Wednesday afternoon and made it to Opelika in time for dinner. However, I stopped to pick up six 2-liters of Cheerwine at Wal-Mart first. The Microtel is a nice place, but the continental breakfast leaves something to be desired. Had my interview at Auburn the next day; it went awesome. Afterwards, I drove to Trussville and checked in to the Jameson. That was NICE, and the breakfast was great. I then went to a nearby grocery store and bought 3 12-packs of Cheerwine. Had my interview at Trussville City schools the next day and headed back home. First, I stopped at a Bruno's in Birmingham for 4 12-packs of Cheerwine (of which 2 were Diet -- Diet Cheerwine is actually good).
Whew! That's a mouthful. Let's see, I spent about $40 on Cheerwine to bring home. I must love it. I should have bought some Dr. Wham, now that I'm thinking about it.
On the way back, I stopped at a restaurant called Taco John's for dinner. It's like Taco Bell, but better! The tacos are much better, and they have Mexi-Fries -- spiced-up hash rounds. To quote Rachael Ray, "YUM-O!"
I also had a third interview while on the trip -- with Host Communications, which I mentioned before. It was a phone interview at 7:30 AM. When they said 8:30, I was kinda hoping that they meant Central Time, not Eastern. Either way, it was all good.
However, I just finished my news website, Pixel Champ. It's similar to the Million Dollar Home Page, but we're going to use the proceeds to sponsor a Champ Car. The people I interviewed with at Auburn know it debuts today, so I hope they check it out. I hope you check it out, and spend a little as well.
I'm going to go drink some Cheerwine right now and celebrate my future success. At the rate of 1 can a day, I have enough to last about 3 months!

Sweet Home Alabama? Mebbe...
Well, I thought I'd be hearing from the law firm or Associated Grocers. I didn't hear from the law firm, so I guess that's out. I did hear from Associated Grocers, but they were just looking to get some additional reference information. Maybe I will hear from them again, I don't know. However, I'm not going to count on either of those.
However, I might have some good opportunities. I'm leaving later today to head to a couple of job interviews in Alabama. One is with Auburn University, and the other is with Trussville City Schools (for those who don't know, Trussville is a northeastern suburb of Birmingham).
I received calls from both of them last Friday, and I was able to line them up in order to do this in one trip. I leave today and return Friday night. I've got motel rooms booked and my budget set. I'm ready to go.
I also ended up with a phone interview for tomorrow morning with Host Communications. They're a big marketing firm in Lexington, Kentucky. They handle the SEC's website, among other marketing concepts (mainly sports).
The only regret I have right now is not having a laptop. Both motels I'm staying at have free wi-fi. And I have nowhere else to check my e-mail. Oh well, I have a new website coming out next Wednesday, and according to initial reviews, people like the concept. If it goes well, I'll definitely have a laptop.
And before I go, I found out that they sell Cheerwine in the Auburn/Opelika area. With that and Birmingham, I'll have no trouble cleaning out the stores of Cheerwine on this trip. wOOt!
