A Class I Didn't Really Need

Yesterday, I was off from work for Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is always a great day. The worst part is the traffic after the parades are over.

Anyhoo, I didn't have to go to work today. No, I didn't take the day off. I had to go to Metairie and take an advanced course on Microsoft Access. I'm sure it was a good course. I just wasn't paying too much attention since I knew the material pretty well already. Hell, I work with SQL Server everyday! Not like it's a loss or anything, as one of my co-workers says I can get reimbursed for lunch and mileage.

Speaking of lunch, I had sushi again. For some reason, I'm really on a sushi kick now. I won't eat eel or squid or shit like that, but I like the fish ones. I used to have reservations about eating raw fish. However, I haven't had any diarrhea yet, so I don't think it's that huge of a concern.

Because of Mardi Gras and this class I took today, I've had some chances to look around the ol' chocolate city and see how it's coming back after Katrina. I guess a lot of people are still waiting for Road Home money. I will guaran-damn-tee that Blank-o will lose badly... don't blame me, I voted for Jindal!

Oh well, back to the old routine tomorrow... reading FARK all day long.

Sick Time Is Discriminatory Against The Healthy...

...and I'm glad they got rid of it at work.

As of Friday, we no longer have separate sick time and vacation time at work. We now have paid time off, which we can use for either purpose. As I mentioned before, sick time is discriminatory against those who stay healthy (like moi), so I'm glad to see it go. Actually, switching to this system results in a net loss of two days from the old system, but I had never used them anyway.

So how much PTO do I have? We get about 3 weeks of PTO at the start of every year, but it's convoluted if you're below a year or around five years. Needless to say, I have 4 days of PTO to use until August 9, and then 3.75 more days from August 9 until the end of the year. I plan to use them.

I'm still trying to come up with ideas to redo TheBigTymer.Com... actually, I haven't come up with anything. Maybe I will... eventually. But I got Mardi Gras to deal with. I also get the Saturn in my name, which means I also get to pay my own car insurance. Woo!

Speaking of Mardi Gras, I can't wait for that. It's my favorite holiday besides Christmas or my birthday.

Sorry I hadn't written in a while, but I gotta get more time to write.
