Don't You Know It's A Way Of Life
I'm getting settled in to the Nashville way of life, and it seems to be going pretty well. When I say "way of life", it's the little things, like learning the traffic.
For example, you have to know when and where the roads back up, and how to avoid them. For example, I-40 eastbound backs up at 7:30 in the morning from Charlotte Pike to Briley Parkway/White Bridge Road. Solution? Leave at 8! Since I have flex-time at work, I can do this. Instead of crawlin', I'm cruisin'.
Also, I-24 east in the southeast part of town will back up no matter what. It's probably because before are cuttin' in so many directions to just stay on their interstate; 24, 40, and 65 all converge down there. I experienced this for the first time heading to Thanksgiving in the ATL. Good thing I don't live down there! Because of that and the weather, it made a 3 hour drive 5 hours. No shit.
My first paycheck was an actual paper check... it's a quirk of the company. Either way, I couldn't believe a paycheck could be that big. I also couldn't believe my utility bills could be so small. I need to buy some furniture.
Another thing of the Nashville way of life is the local cuisine. According to the Internet, a popular food around here is hot chicken. Think of a cross between fried chicken and buffalo wings, served with pickle slices and a couple of slices of white bread. I had it for the first time today, and it was good stuff. Good, but burninating. And I only ordered the medium at 400 Degrees. Next time, I should try the mild. I should also check out Prince's Hot Chicken Shack, but it's kinda out of my way.
The company Christmas party is this Saturday, and it's going to be a snazzy affair. Hey, it's free food. I'll let you know how it goes later.
Before I go, I should mention that I'm going to be getting the webcam up, as well as bringing back the moblog. I just forgot to include it in the design initially.

Moved In & Started Work
It's been a bit over two weeks since I wrote here. It's been a pretty eventful couple of weeks, though. Let me get you up to speed.
I moved in to my new apartment on the 22nd. Since I don't have a lot, moving in was pretty quick. Yeah, I'm paying more in terms of dollars than my last apartment, but this apartment isn't total shit. Anyway, the only minus is that I can't get a dish. I have some tree branches that sit just in the way. So, yeah, my television is Comcastic™ for now, but the property has offered the possibility of cutting away the branches enough. We'll see. Not having Sunday Ticket does suck. At least I can use SopCast to watch the Saints.
My first week at work went great. HealthSpring is a complete 180° from Pamlab in every way possible. I have the option of flex-time, as well as better benefits and a much more relaxed environment. I'm learning how everything is organized, as well as the exact scope of my position, but I got a red Swingline stapler.
I get paid pretty well also. HealthSpring pays for talent, while Pamlab would rather hire someone with less skill so they don't have to pay as much. I happened to be reading the MySpace of my "replacement". I'll let you read for yourself. Needless to say, considering how easy I made my mundane tasks...
Right now, I am loving my time here. I hope to be at HealthSpring for a long time. Needless to say, nothing is guaranteed, so we'll see. However to quote the McD's ads, I'm lovin' it.
Thanksgiving is in a couple of weeks... looks like the family reunion in Atlanta is happening one last time... but didn't I say that last year? Anyhow, I'm gonna enjoy it.
