Getting Ready To Move

Since I last wrote in this thing, a lot of shit has happened, so let me bring you up to speed.

October 12 was my last day at Pamlab. Quite a few people didn't want to see me leave. However, they also understood that the company wasn't willing to pay fairly. My "replacement" (note the quotes... they lowered the bar on the required skillset instead of upping the pay) hadn't started yet, so I had all the instructions set for her on how to do routine tasks. I made things so easy a caveman could do it.

When 4:30 hit, I made my way up to Nashville to look for apartments. Since it was late, I stopped at a run-down motel just short of the Tennessee state line for the night. It was cheap, but the door didn't fully shut, so I had to prop a chair against it. Also, the front desk clerk had the thickest Indian accent ever. I probably won't stay at that motel ever again.

The next morning, I woke up and finished the rest of my drive to Tennessee. I had a list of 6 apartments, and had appointments to view them. Here's how it went:

Southwind (Franklin): I had an appointment to view, but the rental person essentially blew me off for people who were moving in. So I blew them off.

Wyndchase Bellevue (Nashville): Didn't look bad. Had a spot where I could put up a dish. Amenities looked good.

Lakes of Bellevue (Nashville): Looked good, but didn't have a spot where I could put up a dish.

Canyon Ridge (Hermitage): It was like a fuckin' luxury resort. Unfortunately, no spot to put a dish.

Waterford Landing (Hermitage): I had an appointment to view, but no one was there. I finished my lunch from White Castle and waited... then waited... then left. Their loss.

Arbors on Main (Hendersonville): Not a bad apartment, but nearby traffic was horrible. Also, no spot to put a dish.

Therefore, I headed back to Wyndchase Bellevue and filled out an application with them. It was approved, so I've been setting up new utilities and closing the old ones out. Also, I've been getting insurance taken care of. Just by moving to Nashville, I will save 40% on my car insurance and 10% on my renter's insurance.

As it is, I'm going to be moving up early next week. Everything's ready to go. Who knows, I may come back to New Orleans one day... but nothing is guaranteed. But now, it's time to move to a new city and settle into a new way of life.
