I'm Moving To Nash-Vegas, Bitch!!!
As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I had a job interview with a company in Nashville. Let me tell you the story, and what's happened since.
That Friday, I woke up at 4 AM, had some flax waffles with apple butter and some fruit for breakfast, got all cleaned up, and drove to the airport. Crossing the Causeway before the sun is up is not real fun. Anyways, I made my flight and got to Nashville at around 8:45 AM.
After picking up my rental car, I drove over to the Metro Center area of Nashville to interview with the company. It was a great interview. I thought to myself, "Self... this is a damn fine company to work for." They also couldn't believe some of the rules where I currently work. All in all, it was a kickass interview.
After the interview, I drove to a nearby White Castle to get my grub on, but I wasn't quite hungry yet. So I headed to Brentwood to check out the area and pick up some Cheerwine. I got 3 12-packs of the regular and one of the diet, which I stuck into a bag to check at the airport.
After tooling around for a bit, I stopped at White Castle to get my grub on. My crave was satisfied. Afterwards, it was back to the airport and back home... after making a stopover in Tampa. Needless to say, I ended up in both cities that the Saints had lost to the previous week, and would lose to the following Monday. On the way home, I grabbed a sandwich from Subway and headed back across the Causeway.
That's the story of last Friday. So how did it turn out?
Well, I was at the gym on Monday when I got a call from the company... and they made a good offer. I took a couple of days to consider it.
As of today, I have given my notice to Pamlab, and have accepted the offer with Healthspring. I will be starting the week of Halloween, so I will be moving to Nashville by the end of next month. There's a lot of shit to get together, but it's worth it.
In conclusion, out of 39 people who had voted in a pole, only 7 guessed correctly that I would be at my current job between 1-2 years. Most of the rest of you are just haters.

Crappy Start, But Great End To The Week
Well, if you had told me this week would be bipolar, I wouldn't have believed you. But it was.
Early in the week, it was pretty much craptacular. I received rejections for EVERY interview I had done a couple of weeks ago. And that sucked because they were great interviews. I also received a couple of rejection letters from a couple of places I had sent my resume. It sucked, because that means I'd have to stay in my current job longer.
Even worse news reared its ugly head as well. I had been happily buying Cheerwine off the shelves of Winn-Dixie, but it suddenly disappeared a couple of weeks ago. The store didn't have any definitive answers, so I called the distributor. It turns out they chose to STOP SELLING Cheerwine in the area. Needless to say, that pissed me off.
However, about midweek, things did a complete 180. A week and a half ago, I did a phone interview with a company out of Nashville. I didn't have the years of experience, but I thought my mad SQL skillz would serve me well. I received a call from them... they want to bring me in for a second interview next Friday. They're flying me in and everything.
I'll pretty much be in Nashville for a few hours on Friday, mostly at the interview. However, on the way back to the airport, I'll stock up on Cheerwine... I'll bring a bag just for that purpose, and check it on the way home. Hopefully, I have a little time to get some snackage at White Castle as well. And most of all, I hope to land the opportunity. We'll see.
I got the travel info yesterday, so I went to get a haircut, and to buy a new belt. See, losing weight is paying off! I believe that I'll be UNDER 200 pounds at weigh-in tomorrow... I haven't been that since high school.
So this week went from suck - kickass in a couple of days. Can't complain.
