Mardi Gras Was Sweet

Wow, it's been a whole month since I've written in this thing. Seems I've been a bit busier than I thought. Might as well catch up.

I had the chance to go down to Louisiana for Mardi Gras. It was a great time as usual. Of course, being up here in Nashville instead of down in New Orleans full-time, I didn't get to see as many parades or party as much as I used to, but I still had fun. I brought back a king cake, and I'm looking forward to next Mardi Gras. And paid time off after a couple of months of employment... what a concept! I didn't have to wait over a year to take any sort of vacation. I love my new job.

Of course, by being down here, I missed the nasty weather that passed through Mardi Gras night. It seems that the tornado that passed through Fairview passed very close to my apartment. However, it pulled back up before getting to my apartment, and then touched down on the other side of Nashville. On the drive back, I had a chance to see the damage that happened in Memphis and Jackson (Tennessee, not Mississippi). Pretty nasty shit there.

I did my taxes last weekend, and I ended up owing to the IRS. I actually underwithheld at my old job, so I could actually have money in my pocket. I'm going to keep underwithholding though, as I'd rather pay the feds than give them an interest-free loan. I actually got a refund from Louisiana; at least I won't have to do state income taxes for the foreseeable future. Thanks to State Farm for free TurboTax and filing.

Last Wednesday was a little bit weird. It started with the rain and sleet that passed through Tuesday night. They had predicted icy roads for Wednesday morning, but that didn't happen. However, I go out to drive to work, and it's snowing. It was fun to drive to work in the snow. Hopefully, I'll see more snow here.

I now have the webcam page up and running on the site. Take a look to your right to get to it. I hope to have the full-motion video up soon.

I need to clean up my apartment soon. And I want to go bowling as well.
