The House Hunting Really Starts Now.

I don't think I'll ever get used to the cold up here, but now it's just getting ridiculous. In the past couple of weeks, we've had a couple of days where it didn't even get above freezing. There were even days where it got down into the single digits. And this week, there's a chance of an ice storm. I don't like the cold, unless it's snowing.

I've finally started the search for a house. I got hooked up with a realtor, and I've been pre-approved for a mortgage. I sent her some houses I saw on the MLS that I liked, and we should start touring them soon. I hope to close on one and move by mid-April.

I'm looking for either a single-family house, or a townhouse that has reasonable fees and rules. As long as the place isn't falling apart and looks good, it's acceptable to me. I'm hoping for hardwood or tile floors throughout. If not, I can always replace the carpet.

I recently got a couple of copies of the Nashville Citipass book. It's like the Entertainment books, but geared towards local merchant. There are some good deals in there, and it'll definitely be worth more than what the book costs. I recently used one of the coupons for GFS, which sells bulk food without having to buy a membership like Sam's or Costco. The buffalo wings are cheap in bulk, and are damn tasty. They'd be a deal without the coupon I had, but the coupon made it even better.

There are even a bunch of coupons for Qdoba. Channel 4 was also selling Qdoba gift cards for 50% off, so it's an even better deal.

In conclusion, I'm not participating in the recession.

Happy 2009 To The BigTymer

When I left Louisiana, it was shorts weather. When I got back to Nashville, it was cold and/or wet. That was a bit disappointing, especially when you've gotten used to shorts weather. The worst part is having to drive through Memphis... that craphole of a city with some of the worst drivers I've ever seen. I'm happy to get out of there.

When I got back to work on Monday, I found out I was having my employee review that very same day. The review went pretty okay. I know there are some things to improve on, so I'll work on those.

I like living up here in Nashville, and hope to cement that in a couple of months by buying a house. The only thing I'm not fond of is the cold weather with a lack of snow. The cold doesn't bother me if it snows. Oh well, I can deal with that.
