My Life... It's Now Cherry Different!
Cheerwine... damn, that's some good shit. It goes great with BBQ, it goes great with chips, it goes great in various desserts... and if I wasn't a teetotaler, it'd probably go great with vodka.
Speaking of dessert, we're having a charity dessert auction at work. I'll be making a CheerDevil cake (devil's food cake infused with, and frosted with, Cheerwine). It should raise a helluva lot of money. Actually, I'll be making two of them... one for myself.
I had read on the Internet that Cheerwine was available in the Mobile area. That's great, as I wouldn't have to go somewhere far like Birmingham or Lake Charles to get some. I called up the distributor to get some information on grocery stores that carry Cheerwine, and I found one that's just across the Mississippi-Alabama state line. And they sell it for a damn good price as well.
Even better, the distributor will ship out extra 12-packs to that store so I can go buy them this next weekend. When I go buy it, I'll drive back down the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I'm curious to see how they've recovered from that bitch Katrina.
But that's not the best news. A little birdie told me that Cheerwine will be available in the New Orleans area by the end of the year. Needless to say, I hope I wasn't lied to. Can't wait for that. Also, I can't wait to Vera's to reopen by the end of this month. While it's not by Lake Pontchartrain anymore, the food should still be decent.
Needless to say, I can't wait for this week of work to be over.
