1 Year At My Job... But How Much Longer?

As of yesterday, I have made one year of service at work. However, I feel like I will not be there much longer. Let me back up and tell you why.

Last Friday, I received my performance review. It said that I am fuckin' awesome at what I do. I found out how much my raise was. It was 10%. I was disappointed as hell.

Now you say, "back that ass up, BigTymer. 10% is damn good!" Well, before this, I was 33% below fair market value. Now, I'm 21% below fair market value.

I had a talk with the boss, who had a talk with the higher ups. I presented numbers to back up why I should get the raise I sought. Well, he basically stopped short of saying my numbers were way off. He also said that everyone at the company gets paid on the low end of the scale. Gee, quite a contradiction from the employee manual which says they pay competitive rates in the area, huh?

Needless to say, barring a miracle, I have decided to look for employment elsewhere.

They say I'm a valuable employee and that they don't want to lose me; however, words don't pay my bills or fatten my wallet.

I've updated my resume, and I've gotten a couple of small bites. Of course, since I just started looking, I haven't hooked a real big fish yet. I do feel it'll be easier than the last time I did a job search.

Right now, I am just so disillusioned at work. I put on a happy face and do what is asked. In reality, I feel insulted. I know the guy I replaced left to make more bank. I guess they didn't get the message. Will they do so now?
