Going Under The Knife Tomorrow
At this time tomorrow, my jaw surgery will be just about finished. After that, I'll be staying there overnight to make sure I have no medical issues. Wish me luck on this one.
I went to the hospital yesterday to have all these tests done. They took some blood, made me pee into a cup, took some X-rays, and gave me an EKG. I guess I came out fine.
Tomorrow, I have to go to the hospital at 6 AM. My surgery should start around 7:30, and it should last about 5 hours. During this time, they'll be pushing my lower jaw back about 6-7mm, and they'll remove a polyp from my sinus. That means I should be finished with surgery about 12:30.
I'll be moved to a recovery area for a couple of hours, and then I should be moved to a room where I'll stay the night. I don't completely know how they'll hold my jaw together, but I might not be able to talk.
I'll be seeing a dietician as well; I'll be on a strictly liquid diet for 6-8 weeks. I'm hoping to use this to drop down to 170-175 pounds. Right now, I'm about 220. That damn "Freshman 15" affected me every year, it seemed.
I've been looking forward to this surgery for a long time, and I'm glad it's finally time to do this. Of course, it has held up my job search a bit, but I hope to find something soon.
I think I'll go catch a nap, and then just stay awake until it's time to go to the hospital. Wish me luck!
